Memorial Square is the monument at the corner of Washington and Hollis Streets. The Holliston Garden Club planted the perennials, bulbs, and roses at the monument and continues to maintain them. In spring, before Memorial Day, the Town spreads mulch. The VFW plants red geraniums and installs new flags. The garden club plants summer annuals and removes any dried-up foliage, especially in the front of the monument since a ceremony is held here during the Town’s Memorial Day Parade. Responsibilities of the garden club: early spring: clean up area, prune and feed roses; May (before Memorial Day): see above; June: remove all bulb foliage, check plantings; Autumn: general clean-up, plant mums. Two people are needed for this committee.
